Scenario

Whether you are a Windows 10 or Windows 11 user, you will notice the loading bar of File Explorer. It should complete real soon when you open a folder. However, sometimes it may take really long to finish loading, which is quite annoying.

After some observation on the behavior of File Explorer, it seems that this issue is common for folders that contains PDF files. More precisely, it got huge performance latency when renaming or deleting a PDF file.

Solution

At first I thought it was a bug of Windows File Explorer, but it cannot explain why only PDF files are affected. So, the lemon goes directly to Adobe Acrobat, my PDF viewer and editor.

Adobe Acrobat is a good software, but… it always inject unnecessary functions into other programs, such as PDF utilities for Microsoft Word, and here, thumbnail preview in Windows File Explorer. Just uncheck it, and this problem will possibly be solved.
